A new sermon series begins this week at Redemption. For three weeks, we'll be talking about the marriage covenant, and the elements of a healthy marriage today. Expectations of what marriage should offer have shifted dramatically over the last half century, and people in our culture are marrying less often and later in life than any generation before.
The first part of this conversation will focus on being single. Christianity in the modern West has sold society a bill of goods about marriage - we've made it seem like a person isn't truly complete until s/he ties the knot. The New Testament offers a completely different take on the issue, and I'll explore that in some depth this Sunday.
Still, we know there are many folks who are single and longing to connect with a partner. When it comes to Christians who are in search of a partner, what should they be looking for? What qualities should a single Christian value most in a potential partner? What are the qualities you first look(ed) for in a mate?
I welcome your thoughts, and I hope you'll be a part of this conversation over the next three Sundays.
